Most websites don't fail loudly. They quietly fail to convince.
A dated website rarely costs you a customer in a way you'd notice. Somebody lands on it, can't work out what you do inside five seconds, and goes back to the search results to try the next name on the list. Nothing arrives in your inbox to tell you it happened.
That's a decision problem more than a design one. What goes first, what gets cut, what a visitor is meant to do next, and what they need to believe before they'll do it. I work through those questions with you, then design and build around the answers.
A website has one job: make the business easy to understand, and easy to choose.

Independent, and staying that way.
I design websites and I build them — an unusual combination, since most people do one and hand the file across. Doing both changes the work. You stop drawing layouts that look good in a static frame and fall apart in a real browser.
I work alone, remotely, with clients in the US, the UK and elsewhere. I'm not trying to grow this into an agency. I'd rather take on fewer projects and finish them properly.
